International Outreach, Teaching, Fieldwork and Institutional Collaboration
The Outreach section of The Anād Foundation records selected national and international engagements connected with teaching, workshops, lectures, performances, documentation, cultural exchange, institutional collaboration, and public learning.
For legal, statutory, banking, tax, audit, CSR, and formal institutional purposes, the Foundation’s legal name is The Anad Foundation. The form Anād is used as the Foundation’s preferred cultural, scholarly, programme, publication, and public-facing style.
Purpose
Anād’s outreach work extends the Foundation’s core concerns beyond its immediate offices, archives, classrooms, and project spaces. Outreach allows the Foundation to share, teach, document, and discuss tangible and intangible heritage with students, scholars, artists, institutions, communities, and public audiences in different geographies.
Such work may include:
- workshops and lecture-demonstrations;
- teaching sessions and retreats;
- public performances and rāga presentations;
- institutional lectures and seminars;
- archival presentations;
- oral-history and field documentation;
- collaboration with universities, schools, cultural centres, museums, archives, and community institutions;
- conversations on heritage conservation, music, instruments, craft traditions, manuscripts, and public learning.
Areas of Outreach
Anād’s outreach may relate to:
- Gurbāṇī Saṅgīt and the music of Srī Gurū Granth Sāhib;
- rāga, tāla, repertoire, notation, and pedagogy;
- mridañg, jōṛī, pakhāwaj, and rhythmic traditions;
- heritage instruments, luthiery, and sound-craft;
- South Asian music, dance, theatre, poetry, and oral traditions;
- manuscripts, archives, calligraphy, paper, ink, pigment, and binding traditions;
- photography, audio-visual documentation, and archival restoration;
- heritage conservation, public culture, and living transmission;
- dialogue between South Asian traditions and global institutions.
International Engagement
The Foundation’s outreach has included international teaching and cultural-engagement contexts. Pages under this section include earlier records from Poznań, Poland, and Rovigo, Italy.
These engagements form part of Anād’s wider effort to connect South Asian heritage, Gurbāṇī Saṅgīt, craft traditions, oral memory, and public learning with international students, scholars, artists, and institutions.
Outreach as Documentation
Outreach is not only dissemination. It is also documentation.
Workshops, talks, travels, performances, demonstrations, and institutional collaborations may generate photographs, recordings, lecture notes, student responses, field observations, archival references, and public-learning material. These records help preserve the Foundation’s institutional memory and may support future research, publications, teaching, and donor / CSR documentation.
Outreach as Living Transmission
Anād treats outreach as part of sūkham virsā — intangible heritage — because teaching, demonstration, listening, discussion, and embodied exchange are essential to the survival of living knowledge.
At the same time, outreach often engages sthūl virsā — tangible heritage — through instruments, manuscripts, images, recordings, books, tools, textiles, and archival materials.
Collaboration
The Foundation welcomes meaningful collaboration with universities, conservatories, schools, museums, archives, cultural organisations, community institutions, philanthropic bodies, CSR contributors, and independent scholars or practitioners.
Collaborations may be developed around teaching, workshops, exhibitions, documentation, publications, audio-visual restoration, luthiery, heritage conservation, public programmes, and research.
Historical Outreach Records
Some pages in this section belong to earlier phases of the Foundation’s work. Their language, images, formatting, or institutional references may reflect the time when those events or programmes were first organised or documented.
They are retained as part of the Foundation’s public record and institutional memory.
