During his career as a Professor of literature in an evening college affiliated to the University of Delhi, Dr. Madan Gopal Singh has written and lectured extensively on cinema, art and cultural history. Initially a reluctant amateur singer, he is now the lead singer of the well known and widely acclaimed music group Chaar Yaar, whose repertoire includes songs based on Punjabi, Sufi, traditional and contemporary poetry.
He is also a prolific translator of poetry beside being a poet himself.
