Born at village Sadarpura, Sukhwinder Amrit is a well known Punjabi poetess.  She started writing poetry at an early age, but her poetic bent was bitterly disapproved of, in her family. She was married at the age of seventeen and, with the support of her husband, Amarjit, she pursued her wish to undergo further studies and received an M.A. degree. She has to her credit several publications of poems and Ghazal.
