Pakhāwaj artist, Sangeet Kumar Pathak is the son of legendary pakhāwaj maestro, late Pandit Ram Ashish Pathak. He was trained at Amta Gharana Dharbanga under the expert guidance of his father. He extensively practiced all kinds of aesthetic embellishments and various complex rhythmic patterns. He has successfully performed across the length and breadth  of the country and has accompanied many renowned vocalists like Late. Pt. Vidhur Mallick, Pt. Abhay Naryan Mallick, Pt. Ritwick Sanyal, Pt. Ram Kumar Mallick and Pt. Ashok Pathak. He has left his audience spell bound at the Swami Haridas Samelan (Mumbai), Dhrupad Mela (varanasi), Tansen Sangeet Samaroh (Gwalior), Dhrupad Sangeet Samaroh (Kolkatta).

He has many awards to his credit including Talmani award of honour, Padam Shri Pandit Siya Ram Memorial Award. Many of his students are renowned mridanga players.
