Love Poem

1/20/11 Tucson

Pierce my heart with the jagged shards of broken pride
and shattered peace

Shred the veil of silence protecting hidden dreams
and secret wishes yet unspoken

Slash away at the sinews
of safety and security

Carve out a cave
of abandoned certainty

Leave what’s left of this mass
of all I once thought I was

Exposed and oozing
with the crimson syrup of sweet surrender

Dissolving in the soil of life itself

Trickling into the stream of shared humanity

Eroding any trace of you and me

Revealing only
fearless
love
